Bauchi state, Nigeria

CIET began working in Bauchi state, Nigeria during our demonstration social audit in 2006. Bauchi is one of two states improving their health information and planning systems as part of our social audits. We carried out social audits in Bauchi on maternal health in 2009 and child health in 2011.

Bauchi is located in northern Nigeria. The 2006 census recorded a population of 4,653,066. The state is divided into 20 local government authorities (LGAs). Our SEPA communication strategy for the two social audits is going on in three focus LGAs in Bauchi. CIET launched a comprehensive community-based surveillance system (CSS) in Giade LGA in 2010. Giade lies in the northwest of Bauchi city.
